Arrival of Hung Yung Chi in Canton.
Details of his Appointment as Commissioner of Finance
and Deputy Financial Minister.
Hung Yung Chi, alias Hung Tseung Hi, is a native of
Kiangsu Province, and a graduate of an American University.
He has worked in the Ministry of Education at Peking. For
some time he was a Commissioner of Education in Shansi and
was once a Secretary to the late Sun Chung Shan (Dr. Sun Yat-
sen). He is the husband of the elder Madame Sung (elder sis-
ter of Dr. Sun's wife) and thus he is a brother-in-law of
Sun Man, that is to say, he is the husband of the elder
sister of Mrs. Sun and T. V. Soong. He has now been sent
by the Nationalist Government to Canton to take up the posts of Commissioner of Finance in Kwangtung and Deputy Financial
Minister. He arrived at Canton on the 25th of the 12th moon
last year.
On the following day he had an interview with all
the leading officials in charge of financial administration
and made inquiries about the financial condition of Kwangtung

take up his duty, but as it was at the end of the year, he
issued no notification of his having assumed his offices.

only a rumour, while as a matter of fact all the financial
experts had already welcomed their new superior. There is
some speculation among the people that Hung's appointment to
these important financial posts is due to the influence of
his brother-in-law, T. V. Soong, but those who know the
facts, state that Hung became a good friend of Fung Yuk
